A little extra attention...
Planning an outdoor wedding

Planning outdoor weddings requires a little extra thought and attention to make sure that everything runs perfectly.

We’ve included just a few tips to consider when planning outdoor weddings. We’d be delighted to discuss your exact plans in more detail.

At Celebrate in Scotland, we’re experts at outdoor wedding planning. We can arrange for your wedding ceremony to take place in the spectacular Scottish countryside, on the banks of a tranquil loch or in the grounds of one of our historic castles.

Or why not just head outside for your reception? You could enjoy a stunning garden party with a string quartet playing classical music on the lawns.

Whatever you have in mind, Celebrate in Scotland can make it happen. And with our long summer evenings, romantic scenery and a little careful planning, Scotland can be just the place for an outdoor wedding.

Some Handy Tips for Outdoor Weddings

  • Standing drinking champagne and eating canapés with Scotland’s scenery as a backdrop is wonderful, but remember to provide seating for elderly guests
  • Make sure no one is looking directly into the sun during the ceremony or when posing for photographs
  • Provide some shady areas to retire to and think about activities to keep little flower girls or page boys amused, such as miniature bouncy castles
  • You may need a microphone to help voices carry across the outdoor space during the ceremony or toasts
  • If you’re using a generator for your power supply, check the noise level in advance and make sure it’s positioned well away from the ceremony
  • Remember that it may get cold, especially when the sun sets, so the bride and bridesmaids will want a pretty wrap or shrug to cover bare shoulders
  • Create some magic by having fairy lights in trees or even landscape lighting for a dramatic effect. As the evening sets in, the twinkling lights will gently take over
  • And finally, check that there’s room for all your guests in the marquee or other covered areas, just in case the weather isn’t perfect and everyone needs to get indoors!
